As the say in the "tooth" after much "praying on the matter." I decide to do just that.
I was surprised to find very few books on the internet about what it was like inside the world head quarters of the Watchtower bible and truck society. I read Brock Talon's (not his real name) book. I enjoyed it very much. I feel there is so much more that could be said.
With that in mind I would like the help of any out there, that served in NYC bethel from the 1960s through the 1980's to contact me (PM) with any experiences you would like to share. I really don't want this to be my story but the story of the many people who experienced the insanity of that place and time. Humor is important. This isn't going to be a "poor me" book. I'm hoping it will bring tears and smiles.
Even though there would be limited appeal, If we could help just one person. It would be worth the effort.
looking forward to hearing from you all

Having been in for over 50 years, I think of the thousands of hours at bethel and in the field service, all those long boring meetings. I smile to myself and think of the wonderful words "The Beatles" said over 45 years ago.
"Oh...that magic feeling no place to go!"

I know I said I was leaving for awhile but I have to share this.
This last Saturday my son and I were heading to work. We saw a bumper sticker on a beat up truck. We looked at each other and busted a gut, it said.
"Armageddon has been postponed!"

Thank you all. I'll see you again in couple of years. I hit the board here every couple of years do what I can to help. It's a place I love to visit but don't want to live here.
It's great to see the many new people faces here!
Plus the old van guard. I could start listing those wonderful people who helped so many! They have been here from the beginning, Blondie, Terry, Compound Complex, Dog Patch, Simon and dozens of others!
Good job another brick in the wall.
God bless you ALL!
Or if you don't believe in god anymore (lol)
Bless you all!
Namaste

Have you ever thought back at how your mind worked 10, 20, 30 years ago? All of your different believe systems you had.
All the things you believed in back then. The people you liked or disliked. The people you chose as your friends. The love affairs/marriages that would never end.
How adamant we were about our believes. Our believes in our governments, our religions and even the people around us. For me, the younger I was the more I had things figured out. Yes, I was so quick to judge other people and their motives.
Yes, now that we are older things are less black and white. I realize how little I know about everything. That I really have no right to judge other people and never did.
How can I be so adamant about anything, when I have changed so much in the last 50 years. That being true, how much more will I change in the next few years. Which is even more reason not to get "dug in" on a thought system and feeling adamant about anything.
Coming to peace with who I've been and who I will be has allowed me to enjoy the present moment so much more.
I had some great teachers help me with this long the way Gary Zukav, Caroline Myss Depok, Wayne Dyer and my favorite Eckhart Tolle.
Spending to much time in the pass or the future will destroy your present moment. The power of the "now."
Maybe spending too much time on the time machine could be a real problem.
I wish you all peace here. Enjoy your journey.

My boyfriend is thinking of becoming reinstated
by gypsyvine ini'm not really sure where to post this.. i've been with my boyfriend for 4 months now and i've really never been happier.
i was brought up in the church of christ with an elder father and i really believe in my religion, although i will admit to being a lousy christian at times due to sheer laziness (not wanting to get out of bed on sunday).
my boyfriend essentially lives with me.

Well, if he gets reinstated and gets caught with you on one of your sleep overs he will get "popped" again, DF'd. Plus there will be a big push for him to find a "good" JW girl by his folks. So they can have "good" JW grand kids.
Good luck, there may not be a happy ending on this one.

how do most of you now feel about the military?
by sowhatnow inwas not sure where to post this, but i was curious, how do some of you now feel about the military?
would any of you let your children enlist, or would you yourselves join any military field?
how do you feel about the idea of women in the military?

I don't know what I'm taking about.
"Having said that, I cannot think of many military initiatives post-WW2 that the US has been involved in that I would have supported, apart from those that had a primary focus of humanitarian effort. Korea,Vietnam, the first Gulf war, Afghanistan, and especially Iraq, all were tactical in nature, and in the end caused greater threats over the long-term. The evidence of this speaks for itself"
Guys I'm not talking about WW2, WW1 or even the French and Indian war!
I'm talking every conflict this country has been in the last 40 years and probably will be in the next 40 years.
It's a different world and this government the good old USA are not always the "Good guys."
Call me crazy but I think war and killing are bad Ideas. This should be a no brainer.
Everyone agrees then they say "Yes but...."
There is no "Yes but...."
Yes you are right, the governments are not going away. However you can make a personal decision not to take part in the insanity of war.
I was spit on in High School because I would not salute the US flag. I said I would have no part in their war. To which people would say "What if EVERYONE thought the way you do!"
To which I'd Say "Well, I guess there would be no more war!"
You think war is a good idea? Then invest your son. Let him join the "Kill or be Killed business." Then get the telegram that they died for "Freedom." Yes, they died for freedom. The freedom for us to have cheaper gas.
John Lennon, Gandhi, Jesus, the Buddha said it all.
But I guess, many of you folks here don't believe in any of those guys anymore.
Again, please watch the movie "Why we fight." Then make a personal decision on whether war is a good idea.
Or not.

A JW experience
by Saintbertholdt inthis is a quick experience i have recently had and i have two questions at the end.. a couple of weeks ago, the dogs were barking at the gate on saturday morning and wouldn't you know it, it was some witnesses.
there was a father with his lovely wife and their young daughter.
the father did all the talking as mother and daughter just dutifully smiled and watched.

Back up here.
Remember what are JWs looking for?
Unhappy and not very intelligent people. You came off as neither. Thus the quick exit.
